In April it's time for Tick week. This week highlights tick bites, emphasizing that while nature is beneficial for our well-being—helping us relax and stay active—it's important to stay alert about ticks while playing outside. The aim is to offer awareness, not to cause unnecessary worry.

Tips

As the weather warms up, it's great for us, but also for ticks. Make a habit of a quick check after outdoor play to ensure there's no issue. When playing outside in high-risk areas, pull socks over pants for both children and adults. Ticks are commonly found near forests, in areas with dead leaves, or in dense vegetation like tall grass, ivy, and ferns.

Tick bite

Favorite spots for ticks include the groin, behind the knees, armpits, buttocks, waistband edges, and behind the ears. In children, ticks also like to find the hairline at the back of the neck. When a tick has just bitten, it may appear as a small black dot on the skin. Sometimes, there might also be a small red ring and mild itching.
